Five kinds of organic reinforcing agents and fillers commonly used in reclaimed rubber products

When using recycled rubber to produce rubber products, organic reinforcing agents and fillers are often used, mainly including phenolic resin, petroleum resin, vulcanized rubber powder, short fiber and wood powder. Different types of reinforcing agents and fillers have different effects in recycled rubber products. Some products have multiple functions of softener, dispersant, tackifier and modifier. Today, I will share with you five kinds of organic reinforcing agents commonly used in recycled rubber products Functions and adding techniques of fillers.

1. Application of phenolic resin in recycled rubber products

Recycled rubber plate

Phenolic resins used in the rubber products industry include tackifier, reinforcing and vulcanizing types. The reinforcing phenolic resins are mainly used as reinforcing agents and hardeners in the production of recycled rubber products, as well as plasticizers and dispersants. They are applicable to the production of recycled rubber products such as nitrile rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, neoprene rubber, cis-polybutadiene rubber, natural latex rubber and so on.

The reinforced phenolic resin can form a three-dimensional network structure that interacts with the rubber network structure in the structure of the recycled rubber compound, and can produce synergy with carbon black to prepare the recycled rubber vulcanizate with small deformation, high elongation stress, high tensile strength, good hardness, and good tear resistance. In particular, it can significantly improve the application of the recycled rubber 2SLY110 compound, giving the compound better flexibility and reinforcement. When the filler content in recycled rubber products is high, reasonable use of phenolic resin can improve the processing performance of recycled rubber and further improve the fluidity of rubber without reducing the hardness of the vulcanizate.

petroleum resin

2. Application of petroleum resin in recycled rubber products

Petroleum resin is the condensation polymer of olefin or cycloolefin, which is mainly divided into C5 petroleum resin, C9 petroleum resin and alkylated petroleum resin. When used as a reinforcing filler for recycled rubber products, it also has the functions of processing aids, dispersants and softeners. In actual production, petroleum resin with high softening point has good reinforcement effect in the reclaimed rubber, and petroleum resin with low softening point can improve the processability and dispersion of the reclaimed rubber.

Adding petroleum resin in the production of recycled rubber products can not only make the rubber easy to process, but also improve the molding viscosity and the viscosity of recycled rubber in mixing. The use of C9 petroleum resin can endow the reclaimed rubber products with good tensile strength, elongation at break, compression set resistance, etc., and significantly improve the tear strength and wear resistance of the reclaimed rubber vulcanizate.
